A Field Snowshoe | Sydney Andres

Hey everyone! This is my final piece for this class, and I chose to do a documentation of one of the snowshoeing adventures I have been so lucky to enjoy since coming home. This video uses my natural movements to video as the frame gets flipped and became interesting. This video contains explores the natural movements of the walk that my phone camera experiences. I played around with the speed of the videos as well.

This video was taken with my phone camera and edited in the imovies app on my phone as well.

  1. This reminds me of a cute family video from the 90s. The audio was like a snowy asmr. The prospective of the video made me feel like I was the one snowshoeing, something I have never done. Through your video it looks like something I would want to do.

  2. Thanks for sharing your walk with us, I grew up on an acreage so this kind of adventure is so nostalgic to me. I've never used snow shoes before, but I remember going for walks with the dogs and cats and how great that feels. You're lucky, have a good time at home Sydney!

  3. Sydney,
This is an enviable location to wander around. I like how you show your snowshoeing adventure letting the viewer to imagine that is there walking with in the snow. Did you considered removing some clips before the flipped horizon view that is very interesting? The scenes with the dogs running and playing around are delightful.
Keep enjoying your time there and making videos.

  4. This is so sweet and so organic. I completely understand how odd the camera movements can become with the movements of your body. Interesting choice to include this movement as in many productions the camera is preferred to be steady. This movement makes me feel like I am a part of this adventure, providing me with an immersive experience. I like this a lot.

  6. Hi, Sydney!

You used many effects which is evidence of play and progress-- very cool! You allowed the documentation to naturally follow the activity so it felt like I was able to follow along beside you. I enjoyed when you left the crunching sound of the snow in the video, and I found the clips without it to be a bit jarring. I so badly wanted to hear the sound of the dogs playing together too!

The use of different speeds was interesting as well, as the repetition of your snowshoes striking the ground after the silence was surprising. I didn't mind that the camera was held at different angles because it felt like you were paying attention to your actions first and foremost, which is simply practical. I almost felt relieved at the end when I could see the barn and fencing!

Thanks for allowing us in on your adventure!
