For my project, I decided to make a narrative: A movie trailer. In an attempt to make a horror movie trailer, I focused on the ideas of underexposure, infrasound, and suspense.
To make this piece, the actors and I went down to the river, where we filmed all the video of the hiker first. We then recorded the stalker. Once the footage was finished, we recorded the audio. In hindsight, it would have been better to record the audio at the same time. This made the audio vs video awkward. I then took the footage and audio to the lab where I edited it all together.
As soon as I started watching your video I could instantly feel an unease that comes along with horror films and I think you captured that really well. The scenes that were not focused on the actors were quite strong because I would feel the worry as if it was the actor seeing and watching for something that they thought they heard or felt as if they were being watched.
ReplyDeleteJason, I enjoyed your work; I think the video in conjunction with the sound and music added afterwards creates the atmosphere you were looking for. The close-up with the actor smiling make me think if it was intentional or just happened in the moment. I think you accomplished your idea of making a movie trailer and should continue exploring your ideas.

Sorry Jenson, I misspelled your name. Have a nice day and take care! Maria
DeleteI think this is a great first start to making films! You had a clear structure and story which makes it easy for the viewer to get immersed in the narrative. One constructive note though: near the end when the girl is running away, I noticed the Foley sound for the running didn't quite match with the steps of the woman. Thanks for sharing your work, have a good break and stay healthy!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting! I enjoyed seeing the craftsmanship that went into this. You clearly had a plan for execution and I think that was very beneficial for the ease of production. Interesting filter choice, try playing with other color schemes. (The blue is a little misleading at times.) Well done.
ReplyDeleteI remember you telling me about your idea for your project and I think you did a great job creating it! I can tell that Anna and William were having a great time acting out their roles in the film. I love the last part where the camera tilts up towards the sky. Great job!
ReplyDeleteHi, Jenson!
ReplyDeleteI loved the sophisticated text placement at the beginning of the trailer. The cinematic use of colour grading is interesting as well and it sets the tone. The actors looked like they had a good time producing this work with you, though the young woman's use of facial expressions and gestures are somewhat comedic and a tad at odds with your overall mood.
You've shown a strong inclination toward digital art making throughout the semester and I bet it'll be a strong path for you as you move forward.
