The video "Painting in Progress" is in the context
of the final project for "Painting Studio Material, Colour, Space"
course. To shoot the video, I used a mobile phone camera. After several attempts
and few tries, in this one, I think I suggest the idea behind it. When the painting work
is finished, I will shoot another video with the same intention, with aerial
views of work materials, and surfaces where the eye of the Camera scans, surveys
table details like paint tubes, palette and reference images (in close-up) and painting
details. I will continue with the eye of the camera surveying details of the painting and then revealing
the entire painting. At the same time, improving camera movements to provide a
clear visual narration.
Music track "Piano Sonata No. 11 in A major " Wolfgang
Amadeus Mozart. I included this piece to the video because it is the type of
music I listen to when working at home.

I like this a lot. It gives a wonderful insight of just how messy and disorganized the process to a masterful work of art can become. As a fellow artist, I relate to this on a deep level. The way you've shot this brings a method and elegance to the madness that is studio art. I really appreciate the artistic choices that you've made within this video, especially some of the slower shots to allow the eye to take more time to analyze the setting. Well done.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your work with us again, it's always interesting to see other artists home studios. Keep up the good work Maria!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing other artists studios and what their process's look like. The video relates to the disoranization of stuff that most artists have when working on projects.
ReplyDeleteClassical music and a traditional art medium. Both seen to link together, maybe because they both help developed the art world! Wonderful painting.
ReplyDeleteHello, María!
ReplyDeleteIt's an intimate thing to be invited to an artist's studio - so thank you for showing us your space and how you practice art making. I really wanted you to linger over your objects a little longer, as they become a bit of a blur... and I so badly wanted to appreciate them for longer! One possibility could be that still shots of objects could be incorporated throughout the video, such as individual tubes of paint or small, detailed aspects of the painting that you found successful?
A few notes about the use of text: while the title was useful, the white text could use an outline as it fades into the background and is difficult to see. The text at the end of the video is good too, but could it have been placed on a black screen instead of intruding on your painting?
Hi Amber,
ReplyDeleteIt is great to hear from you. Thank you so much for all the observations you make, I will take them in consideration when making another video.
Regarding the text at the end of the video, my intention was to add a black screen, and I did, but when I tried to post my video the size of it exceeded File Size permitted on the blog, so that I cut both ends of the video instead of removing another part. Next time I will add titles on their own screen as you suggest.
Stay safe!
Maria
